I’m sure you probably remember a little kerfuffle recently about Rand Paul’s aide, Jack Hunter? Hunter formerly boasted about being an activist for secession and went by the name Southern Avenger on his radio show. As recently as May he can be quoted with saying “If you want to be the party of white people, we’re winning all the white votes. We’re a diverse nation. We’re going to win when we look like America.” He’s been credited with writing articles praising John Wilkes Booth and celebrates Booth’s birthday as well as being a member of the pro-Southern independence group League of the South before working for Senator Paul.
But despite all that the Senator dismissed allegations that he had a white supremacist working on his staff and acted as if all these issues were in Hunter’s past and had no current place in his life now. If that is so why was he saying something as blatantly racist as late as May and why on earth would Sen. Rand Paul employ him to begin with? Well it seems the tides have shifted and humility has finally taken over after a flurry of controversy and backlash against the Senator on this issue.
Jack Hunter resigned today from Sen. Paul’s staff stating he would be seeking to resume his career in political punditry… and that’s just what America needs. Another political pundit with a somewhat racially checkered past, isn’t it?
