Jason Allen Roberson, 35, a youth pastor at VineLife Church in Longmont, Colorado was charged with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, sexual exploitation of a child and unlawful sexual contact after a 23-year-old woman told police the pastor has been sexually abusing her since she was just 15 years old. She decided to come forward after members of her new church encouraged her to speak out about it.
The woman said he started out very innocent and friendly, exchanging texts and phone calls, but as time went on, the pastor began to push the boundaries little by little.
According to 7 News, police obtained documents from a church investigation that has been ongoing since March. In these church documents, Roberson allegedly admitted to several occasions of sexual assault, including groping her a month before her 18th birthday. He also allegedly admitted to touching her breasts on multiple occasions, “accidentally” texting a photo of his penis, and watching her change clothes through windows at church and at her home. Roberson allegedly told a detective he “stopped watching prior to seeing her nude”.
The Church suspended Roberson and removed his photo from their website.
Roberson turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
