Melissa Harris-Perry Slams Montana Rape Case Judge and Compares Him to Todd Akin(Video)

Clearly frustrated with the Montana rape case ruling that resulted in Stacey Dean Rambold being sentenced to only 30 days, MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry had a few words for judge G. Todd Baugh in her “open letter” segment, even comparing the judge’s words to those of Todd Akin, a 2012 Missouri Senate hopeful who made a statement about a woman’s body being able to shut down and prevent pregnancy if the rape is legitimate. This statement drew lots of negative attention for Akin and other Republicans began to distance themselves from him, eventually ending with him losing that election to current Senator Claire McCaskill.

If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were exchanging your judicial robes for a Republican seat in Congress, because you’re sounding a lot like former Senator Todd “legitimate rape” Akin, before his comments got him voted out of office.

Since the ruling, there have been protests and petitions demanding the judge’s removal from the bench, but Baugh says he has no plans to resign.
