Sweet Cakes by Melissa, the Oregon bakery that made national headlines last winter for their refusal to serve a lesbian couple who wanted to purchase a wedding cake, has officially closed shop according to Williamette Week.
Currently, there is no sure answer on if the investigation to determine whether or not the business violated the 2007 Oregon Equality Act had anything to do with the business closing.
According to KOIN, the owner left a note on the door that said:
“This fight is not over. We will continue to stand strong. Your religious freedom is becoming not free anymore. This is ridiculous that we can not practice our faith. The lord is good and we will continue to serve him with all our heart.”
The bakery will become a home business.
