UK Rapist May Have Received HIV From Victim

A UK man named Richard Thomas was sentenced to 5 years and 4 months in prison after he confessed to raping a woman while she was asleep.

Thomas, 27, also said he had been drinking and taking drugs that night and didn’t remember the attack, but believes the woman’s story of what happened.

According to the prosecution, the woman took sleeping pills that night. She later awoke to Thomas having sex with her after he came into her home uninvited in the middle of the night. Attorney¬† Harry Pepper said, “She froze and no words were exchanged. He pulled up his shorts and left.”

Police told Thomas that the woman he raped had HIV and Thomas collapsed, according to BBC. He told police that he knew the victim was ill, but didn’t know why. He is currently waiting on the results of his HIV test.

His attorney, Virginia Hayton said, “It is his own fault, if he had not committed this offence he would not have placed himself in this position.”
