This week, Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson made a very controversial(and unapologetic) statement about the Tea Party being similar to, and no more popular than the KKK.
When confronted by Huffington Post about the statement, his response was this:
There is overwhelming evidence that the Tea Party is the home of bigotry and discrimination in America today, just as the KKK was for an earlier generation. If the hood fits, wear it.
Did he go too far? Is there any truth to what he said?
Later in the week, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow pointed out connections between Tea Party Republicans and Neo-Confederate, secessionist groups. She also reminded the viewers of a few former connections as well.
