On Tuesday, Daily Show host Jon Stewart went on a FOX news mock-a-thon for many of the statements made by the cable news network, its contributors and other conservatives about Obamacare that were either previously debunked, incorrect assumptions or flat-out lies.
Before he got to them, he went after President Obama for this comment he made repeatedly stating (and I’m paraphrasing),”If you like your plan, you get to keep it” before the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, and later saying, “like I said, If you like your plan, you get to keep it if it hasn’t changed since the law passed.”
Stewart wasn’t going to let that slide:
No, no, no, no, no. “What you said was, you can keep it. Period. Now what you said there was more like, “You can keep your health care plan … elipses. Comma, because it may no longer meet the minimum requirements, or your insurance company may stop offering individual plans or some other odd bureaucratic offshoot. Period. Emoticon depicting a combination of embarrassment and arrogance.”
After he finish with Obama, he had one more target.
Yes, the president has been somewhat dishonest about the promise of his health care program, but here’s the weird part – his opponents have been lying like motherf*ckers about its effects.
Stewart played numerous clips of conservatives misinforming their base, including Brian Kilmeade’s saying not paying could land you in prison and Dr. Ben Carson saying Obamacare is the worse thing since slavery and actually worse than Jim Crow laws.
Stewart says if conservatives thought the ACA was so bad, why do they have to go so far out of their way smear the law instead of just reporting it honestly.
There’s a reason why 12 Years A Slave doesn’t have vampires and zombies. It doesn’t need them.
