Wednesday, Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL) got upset with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, so he elected to personally attack her, causing a shouting match between himself and Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) soon after.
Shimkus asked Sebelius if health services were really free to the consumer under the Affordable Care Act, but when she answered “yes”, Shimkus began interrupting her and wouldn’t let her finish her answer. Here’s his reason for cutting her off.
It’s like talking to the Republic of Korea or something.
Just a quick note.
The Republic of Korea is actually South Korea, an ally to the U.S.
North Korea is also called the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
I’m pretty sure he meant North Korea. That is, unless he means that she’s his ally and not difficult to communicate with at all.
Besides, should the guy who is shouting down everyone in the room be the one to complain about difficulty in communication?
After the personal attack, Pallone jumped in and told Shimkus that he must allow Sebelius to answer the question, saying everyone agreed on this beforehand. Shimkus said, “I do not have to allow her to answer the question!”
