It’s a tragic story most of us read about, or watched videos about the last few weeks.
Last January 29-year-old newlywed Brittany Maynard started experiencing crippling headaches and was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a malignant brain tumor, and given ten years to live.
As her condition progressed that estimate was lowered to just 6 months. Rather than fight a painful and pointless battle Maynard has decided she is going to die on her own terms using doctor-prescribed lethal medication and has chosen November 1st to do so.
A video she made about he battle with cancer and the right to die with dignity has been making the rounds on news sites, blogs and social media – capturing the attention of the hateful ultra-conservative website Mofopolitics.com.
A couple of weeks ago, Mofo Politics contributor Mark Capra, who has brought us other gems such as a despicable racist attack on Mexican women, lashed out at Maynard taunting her change in appearance since her marriage which is clearly the result of her horrible battle with cancer.
The title of the article should have been enough of a warning to us: “Once again, it’s up to MFP to say what everybody else is thinking about Brittany Maynard.”
And after writing “For the record, I support Maynard’s decision and Oregon’s Death with Dignity Act,” Capra posted photos mocking Maynard.
When I originally began this article it was my intention to post a screenshot of Capra’s heartless attack, but have instead elected to leave it up to you, the reader, to determine if you have the heart to look at his shameless post by placing a thumbnail here requiring you to click on the image to see it full-sized.
If there is a God, and there is a Heaven and Hell, I hope there is a special room for people like Mark Capra.
