Kevin Jazrael Davis, 18, was sentenced to life in prison for killing his mother and sexually assaulting her corpse.
The Corpus Christi Caller reports that on March 26th, Davis beat his mother to death with a hammer and then he raped her lifeless body, living out what he told detectives to be his fantasies: violent and sexual thoughts he had about women, including his mother and his sister.
Davis turned himself in to police the following day. He told investigators he rode his bike all night with the intent of leaving town but wound up deserting his bike and backpack in Annaville, walking up to a house in Robstown and asking the residents to call 911 because he killed someone.
Jurors deliberated for an hour before deciding on the maximum sentence of life in prison.
Davis has been diagnosed with personality disorder. His doctor says he understands the difference between right and wrong but he showed little emotion at the trial. Davis insists that he is sane, and he told detectives he is perverted, terrible and disgusting.
The murder came as a surprise to family members and, according to Davis’ sister, his mother had always stood behind him.
Davis’ sister, Desirae Hill, and his grandfather, Cylde Hill, addressed him after his sentencing and before he was taken away by authorities:
“You took the only person who had your back,” Desirae Hill said to him. “Now you are all alone.”
Davis shrugged and sighed. He remained stoic as his grandfather said,
“I don’t know quite what to say to you,” Clyde Hill said. “You killed your mother. You just don’t do that.”
Throughout the trial, Davis would smile and wave to witnesses when they were asked to identify him.
The last thing his grandfather said to his grandson was that they will not see each other again.
“Justice has been done,” Clyde Hill said outside the courtroom. “It’s just a sad situation. You just don’t take your mother’s life.”
